Honorable Mention Awarded to "Like A Moth To A Flame, Old Age Arrives"
Two pieces were accepted into the prestigious "Phillustration" Show at The Philadelphia Sketch Club. An honorable mention was awarded to "Like A Moth To A Flame, Old Age Arrives" in the self-promotion category at the 3rd annual juried exhibition.

Society Of Illustrators, New York City, April 1st

128 East 63rd Street, NYC- Milton Glaser gave a talk and signed books at the Society. One of my art & graphic design idols, Milton was presented with a National Medal of Arts from President Obama just thirty-five days ago!

The studio is a mess while creating new art for the big Surtex show in New York City- May 16, 17, 18 at the Javits Center. -Special thanks to Jasper (Johns) for the flag inspiration!

Newly formed Lansdowne Arts Board
Lansdowne, PA- Here I am with fellow Lansdowne Arts Board members; Orlando Haddad, Rick Prigg, Virigina Maroun, and Jared Lee. I am really thrilled to be included in this group of cool, talented people from fine arts, music, theater, and arts & business disciplines. Lansdowne is already a neat, arty town. It will be exciting to see what advances we can make to elevate our position in the county and region. What a cool way to end the year with this borough council appointed position!
At the Type Director's Club
New York City- I am proud to teach in the Marywood University MFA Program for Working Professionals. I am here with my co-instructor, Melanie Hall, at the Type Director's Club in Manhattan. This cool facility is where study-tour classes are held. The Marywood program is near and dear to my heart- I am a member of the faculty AND a graduate of the program! The Pumpkin Book is Re-released.
Nationally- The pumpkin book is back! The new board book edition is in stores this fall. Here is my mom, proudly showing off the book in Fred Meyer's on the west coast.

Lansdowne, PA- The 7th annual Lansdowne Arts Festival was bigger and better than ever! Being one of the directors of this festival- my town's largest arts event- is one of the roles in my life I am very proud of. With sponsors like WXPN's World Café Live (88.5FM), the Philadelphia Zoo and the Philadelphia Inquirer this was a fantastic event. See you next year!

In conjunction with the gecko show at The Academy of Natural Sciences, Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, Gecko Exhibition Dates are July 25-September 7, 2009.

Sarah posed for the entrepreneur-perfume-maker for Steady Hands (a book of poems about jobs). After its publication with Clarion Books, Megan and Sarah celebrated and posed together with the printed book.

Family Circle magazine art director mentions Megan
Family Circle magazine art director and "illustration fanatic", Lisa Kelsey, lists Megan as "one of the many talented illustrators that I've come across in my career as an art director", on Squidoo.com. Megan is listed under "assemblage/three dimensional work" and Lisa also says "nice children's illustrations as well".
2nd Place, Editorial Art Category, PHILLUSTRATION 2009 @ The Philadelphia Sketch Club

Megan's image "Repairing Old Things", from New Jersey Life magazine, won a second place award in the editorial art category at the 2nd Annual Juried Exhibition of Illustration at The Philadelphia Sketch Club.

NY, NY- New York Times Book Review, Children's Books "Bookshelf" mentions Steady Hands, poems by Tracie Zimmer, illustrations by Megan and Sean Addy.
Megan is a Calendar Finalist in Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine National Calendar Competition
Loveland, CO.- Megan is a finalist in Cloth Paper Scissors' first annual calendar contest. The national art and craft magazine's competition "Life is Like a Box of ......" received many mixed-media entries from across the country. Megan's entry, "Life is Like a Box of Beach", is a 12 x 12 mixed-media collage on canvas using colored-papers, paint swatches, shells, seaweed, other "beach treasures", buttons, thread and hand-made copper heart.
Sixteen finalists were chosen. The finalists' entries will be on view at the International Quilt Festival. Thirteen pieces will be chosen for the calendar, the remaining entries will be highlighted in Cloth Paper Scissors magazine.

Chicago, IL- The American Library Association's Booklist magazine gave Boats: Speeding! Sailing! Cruising! a starred review- "The trio who has already taken on trains and planes now turns to boats with wonderful, whimsical results. The fun part comes in the way the design and the mixed-media art come together. With so much to see, boat lovers will want to look at this more than once, and their parents will be happy to oblige with another reading."
Art Exhibit - READYMADE: Found Objects from the American Landscape
Philadelphia, PA.- Four pieces of Megan's work were chosen for the show- READYMADE: Found Objects from the American Landscape. The exhibition focuses on the found object in paintings, sculptures and mixed-media objects. Megan was one of four professors from Moore College of Art & Design chosen to for the show. The exhibit was held at the Moore Galleries at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Center City, Philadelphia.
Artist in Residence at The Episcopal Academy
Newtown Square, PA- Megan is the artist-in-residence for the month of December at The Episcopal Academy.
American Library Association's Celebrate Women's History Poster
Chicago, IL- Megan and Sean Addy's artwork, from their book Amelia to Zora, was used to create a Women's History Month poster for the American Library Association.
Moore Connections Faculty Profile
Philadelphia, PA.- Megan was the profiled faculty member in the Fall issue of Moore College's Family Newsletter. The article highlighted Megan's career and her classes- Children's Book Illustration and Business for Illustrators.
The Fred Brenner Memorial Library at Marywood University
Scranton, PA.- Megan is seen here with Fred Brenner's wife and creative partner, Barbara, and children's book artist Melanie Hall. Fred was one of the founding members of the MFA for Working Professionals Program at Marywood University. Fred taught the children's book design and illustration class. Megan was a student of Fred's and is now co-instructor (with Melanie Hall, right) of the children's book class. Fred's wife, and well-known author, Barbara Brenner, is a special guest of Megan and Melanie's advanced workshop each summer.
