Under My Creative Umbrella
Children's Book Artist
Licensed Artist & Designer
Thanks for visiting my website!
If you don't know me, I am a professional artist one year shy of celebrating 25 years in the business of making art.
I have illustrated 45 books in the last 24 years, some of which I have also written. My children's book art has received numerous honors you can find below. My favorite praise for my children's book work was from The New Yorker magazine. It called my dimensional work "tromp l'oile marvels"!!
I'm grateful to be currently working on illustrations for a book with Walker Publishing due out in the spring of 2015.
My editorial illustrations have appeared in many international and national magazines. I've also created art and designs for logos, packaging and wine labels.
My love of patterned endpapers in my children's books led me to create decorative art for licensed products and giftware. My products include wall art, textiles, giftware, greeting cards and other cool things.
I was meant to be an artist. While taking piano lessons as a kid, rather than practice, I colored my sheet music. I still love to color and cannot play the piano!
I'm a former Pratt Institute and Moore College of Art & Design professor. I am currently on the faculty of Marywood University's MFA Program, Get Your Masters with the Masters. I earned my Masters Degree, in illustration, from this wonderful program.
A former New Yorker, I now live in the cute, small, town of Lansdowne, PA, where I serve on the borough appointed Arts Board. I am also co-chair of Lansdowne's annual three-day celebration of music and art - The Lansdowne Arts Festival.
